With every production, we vow to update and improve our sustainability practices both on and off set. We believe there can never be too much work done in the name of environmentalism, and we will always strive towards building a more eco-conscious culture within the film industry at large. Below are our current practices:
We want to see single-use plastic water bottles eliminated from film set culture. As such, we require all talent and crew to bring their own reusable water bottles. We provide water refilling stations whenever possible, and otherwise source more sustainable single-use alternatives such as aluminum cans and cartons of water.
We implement as many sustainable Catering & Craft Services products as possible. This includes bamboo cutlery, plant-based/compostable plates and cups, and 100% recycled paper towels. We also partner with catering establishments that align with our eco-conscious values, including those that use programs such as DeliverZero.
When traveling outside NYC for productions, we are committed to renting electric and hybrid vehicles to reduce our carbon footprint and support the electric vehicle industry at large.
We separate landfill, recycling, and compost for every production. Cast and crew are always informed of the designated bins for each stream, and will be guided on how to discard each item into its proper place. We take advantage of NYC’s public composting program which not only significantly reduces our company’s contributions towards landfills, but also helps bring food waste back into regenerative gardening practices.
While we are dedicated to ordering only as many meals as we need for each production, there are times when excess food is provided by Catering. We equitably distribute any uneaten leftovers to public resources such as community fridges.
We think it’s important to extend our eco-conscious values not only into the workplace, but also into how we contribute as consumers. In other words, we put our money where our mouth is.
